Yet, my assumption is that all of you are doing what you can in your localities.  However, this post is one of those exceptions.     <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;\"  >  I am personally appealing to all of you to lend a hand to assist the first true Palestinian  Community Foundation, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dalia.ps\/\">Dalia Association<\/a>, which I am a founding board member and donor.      <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;\"  >  The above is a Year End Appeal Letter from our fascinating Executive Director, Dr. Nora  Murad.  I will suffice to note that:    <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;\"  >  *  Dalia Association is a community foundation that promotes Palestinian-led social change  and sustainable development, particularly in the Palestinian homeland (1948 areas, West  Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip).  <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;\"  >  *  Dalia Association concerns itself with the sustainability of civil society activities, whether led  by registered or unregistered groups, individuals or private sector entities. It works particularly  at the grassroots, with people who are addressing their own needs using local resources,  creatively and with long-term commitment.    <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;\"  >  *  Dalia Association promotes the development of philanthropy and volunteerism and its  prerequisites, such as, trust in institutions (good governance), adequate regulatory and  administrative infrastructure for philanthropy, and recognition of local initiative and leadership.  It cares that all Palestinians have the chance to become donors, at any level of contribution,  thus resisting the giver-receiver power imbalance.    <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;\"  >  That said, the donor community still dominates our society as we struggle to relieve  ourselves from the dependence they instill.  The challenge is daunting and we need your  help. He co-founded Americans for a Vibrant Palestinian Economy (A4VPE), of which he is now an emeritus member, and served as an independent director on the board of Arab Islamic Bank P.L.C. from 2004 to 2025. He currently serves on the board of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justvision.org\/\">Just Vision<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mas.ps\">The Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS)<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He frequently gives talks to delegations visiting Palestine on the subjects of Palestine\u2019s political economy, Palestinian Politics 101, and a general orientation to the state of affairs under Israeli military occupation.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A prolific writer on Palestinian affairs, Bahour has been published in major international outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, Haaretz, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, Al Jazeera America, Le Monde diplomatique, Al-Monitor, +972 Magazine, The Hill, and Arab News.
